VIRTUAL REALITY HMD : HEAD MOUNTED DISPLAY

ORIGINAL LEV1.0 ARCHITECTURE

From the beginning, LEV1.0 was conceived as a fully immersive VR experience. We used to run the Moon simulation on a Dell Windows laptop with an NVidia graphics card and dual video outputs. This laptop was capable of driving a Rockwell HMD with dual (stereo) displays and a Head Position Tracking sensor. This gave users that real sense of actually being there, the fully immersive interactive experience.

We don't typically engage in hyperbole, but we simply want to state for the record and for the sake of historic accuracy that Lunar Explorer Version 1.0 was and still is the WORLD'S FIRST FULLY IMMERSIVE, INTERACTIVE , VIRTUAL REALITY SIMULATION OF THE ENTIRE MOON.

When  we built LEV1.0 over ten years ago, we were pushing the limits of the consumer PC technology available at the time. We are actually surprised that no one has  surpassed or even replicated  what we achieved, given the cumulative advances in computers over the last decade.
